To The Grieving Mom on New Years

When you find yourself in a moment of laughter

You are playing your baby’s favorite sound

When you lose yourself in music and dance around the kitchen

It was your baby’s favorite way to be rocked to sleep

When you find yourself smiling

It’s your baby’s favorite view

When life brings you blessings

Your baby celebrates with you

When you can’t hold back the tears

Your baby is holding your heart tight

When you continue to live your life for them

Your baby is proud of you

In this new year, I wish you everything you need

I wish you time to grieve

I wish you the bravery to feel happy

I wish you moments of lightness

I wish you times to celebrate your baby

I wish you support when you can’t stand

I wish you the opportunity to feel what you need

I wish you blessings

I wish you time

I know its hard to enter a new year without your baby

Your baby is not left in the past

Your baby is carried with you in your heart and memories

I know it feels like a consolation prize

I know you’d rather carry your baby in your womb or in your arms

But know, no matter how much time passes

No matter how far life moves forward

No matter how long your baby was with you

Your baby is still a part of it

You are a mother
